Metro Bike Trail

This last piece of bike trail connected the City of Aurora’s Municipal Building with existing trails and the new RTD park and ride. This 3/4 mile of trail had extensive grading to accommodate the sever slope between the RTD park and ride and the underpass under Alameda Blvd. Then unique color concrete bands were used to warn bikers of upcoming intersections. The last piece connected the existing pond behind the Municipal Building with the parking lot with a beautifully designed plaza.

Tollgate Creek Trail & Bridge

To continue Aurora's extensive trail system a new connection will be made through the Toll Creek corridor. One mile of a concrete trail will be installed through the existing residential area to Toll Creek where a 220 LF bridge will be built to connect to the other side. Using a concrete center pier in the middle of Toll Creek extensive dewatering and shoring will be necessary to get this 54" caisson out of the ground. To add to this difficult project an "Air Bridge" will have to be designed and built over two gas lines so that the concrete trucks, crane and bridge transport does not do any damage.

Bear Creek Trail

Continuing Denver's extensive bike and pedestrian trails this 6,200 LF concrete trail runs along Bear Creek starting at Hampden and Sheridan. Also improvements will be made to the existing asphalt trail and landscape. To connect this piece to existing trails a 220 LF bridge will be installed crossing Bear Creek on one end and an essential water crossing on the other. Additional site amenities will finish out this project with benches, bike racks and railing.

Denver General Trail

GoodLand Construction was selected to implement Denver's new trails replacement program. A Request For Proposals was issued using a Design/Build format. Teams were to submit proposals to replace three miles of existing trails at nine different sites with new 10 foot concrete and asphalt trails. With an extensive selection process the team of GoodLand Construction, DHM Design, and San Engineering was awarded the contract. The challenge, work with the City of Denver's representatives to survey each site, document the existing conditions, and design and build each trail with minimum impact to the surrounding area.

Creekside Park Trail

In disrepair and becoming a hazard, three low water crossing along the Ralston Creek were selected to be replaced. To improve more than just these functional crossing a new pedestrian bridge was installed and Redi-Rock style blocks were used to stabilize the embankment. These elements were not only functional but provided a pedestrian friendly access to the creek bank. New concrete trails, landscape and irrigation were then installed completing this user-friendly park along a beautiful waterway.

Sand Creek Trail

Squeezed between Sand Creek and the existing businesses 3/4 miles of concrete path was installed along a very difficult and challenging site. Used as a dump site for many years hundreds of yards of debris and broken concrete was hauled off to establish the trail grade. Then concrete toe walls, concrete vertical walls and modular block walls were all used to shore up the existing grades to accommodate this new trail.
