Due to the September flooding in 2013 the Coal Creek trail was mostly washed out and was in need of repair. Team GoodLand and DHM was selected to evaluate the damaged trail and eroded banks and develop a strategy to restore the trail and banks. The team members spent a number of days assessing and categorizing the damage, logging the actual quantities and preparing a plan. Once approved by the City and the funding source FEMA GoodLand repaired the damaged crusher fine trail, filled in eroded areas and replaced the washed out embankment material for better bank stabilization. All other damaged areas were then re-seeded.

Castlewood Ranch Park was a prequalified design/build bid process. Request for Proposals for this ten-acre site started as a general conceptual drawing created by the Town of Castle Rock and was transformed into rich design elements accenting the thoughts of the Town of Castle Rock’s planners. The areas existing Ryolite walls were used in seat walls and entry walls to tie the neighborhood theme into the park. And to bring the neighborhood into the park shelters with lighting, picnic areas, concrete walking and bike trails, a playground and horseshoe pits were designed. To meet Castle Rock’s water conservation goals a Synthetic Turf field including an underground drainage system was incorporated. Other design elements include a parking lot with lighting, concrete plaza, fencing, landscape and irrigation.
